As we prepare for mid-year reports, we wanted to let you know about a small refinement to our report writing process at Hastings Christian School.

Teachers will continue to develop report comments using their professional knowledge of each student, informed by classroom observations, assessment information, work samples, daily interactions, and conversations with students and whānau.
|
This year, all teachers will use a common process that encourages them to draw together this evidence before writing reports. Our goal is to ensure comments are thoughtful, consistent, and informed by the breadth of information gathered throughout the year.
|
As part of this process, teachers will use artificial intelligence (AI) as a support tool to help organise and refine the wording of their comments. The content, observations, judgements, and next steps remain the work of the teacher, who reviews and approves every comment before it is published.
|
This approach helps reduce the administrative time involved in report writing, allowing teachers to focus more of their time and energy on planning, teaching, and supporting students.
|
Student privacy remains important to us, and staff are expected to use AI responsibly and professionally in line with school expectations. While AI is an emerging technology, our commitment remains unchanged: to provide report comments that accurately reflect each student's learning, progress, and engagement.

Term 3 Primary Sports

We are pleased to offer a range of after-school winter sports this term, including Taekwondo, Basketball, and Water Polo. Further information about each sport is provided on the registration form. Fia Fia Night
Kia ora e te whānau, We are excited to invite you to our Hastings Christian School Fiafia Night on Thursday 23 July at 6:00pm in the School Gym.
Fiafia Night is a special opportunity for our school community to come together and celebrate the many cultures, traditions, stories, and experiences that make up our school whānau. As a Christian school, we recognise that every person is wonderfully made in God's image, and this evening is a chance to celebrate the rich diversity He has brought together within our community.
We would love for families to be involved by sharing something meaningful from their culture, heritage, or family traditions. This could be a cultural performance, dance, song, traditional dress, music, storytelling, a favourite dessert, or simply sharing something special about your family's background.
Whether your family has lived in New Zealand for generations or has connections to another part of the world, your story matters and helps us learn more about one another.
